Andy Halliday's Survival Story

Andy Halliday is a Bushmasters regular who has taken part in a number of adventures over the past seven years. Below, Andy thoroughly details what he has experienced over the course of 10 Bushmasters trips.

I first contacted Bushmasters in 2005, but didn’t take part in my first trip until 2009. Since then I haven’t looked back!

At the time of writing this (Aug 2016), I have taken part in 10 Bushmasters trips with the 11th & 12th trips booked. I have also done a number of other trips/activities away from Bushmasters that Ian & Sarah have organised for me.

I have seen and done things on these trips that most people only dream of. I’ve trekked through jungles, desert & over mountains. I’ve kayaked and canoed jungle rivers. Spent time on deserted islands in the Caribbean. I’ve swam with sharks. Ridden camels, horses and twice competed in the bull riding competition at the annual Lethem rodeo. Hunted with bow & arrow and survived isolation. I’ve jumped from aircraft into remote jungle lakes. Worked on the ranch at the beautiful Saddle mountain and had a drink with the president in a Georgetown bar.

I’ve seen some amazing wildlife. Anteaters, Caiman, Snakes, Harpy eagles, Giant Otters, Howler monkeys, Tarantulas, Tortoises, Scorpions, Puma, Capybara, Toucans, Spider monkeys, Bullet ants, Tapir, Poison Dart frogs, Sharks, Piranha, Stingrays plus a whole variety of other wildlife normally only seen on an Attenborough narrated documentary.

I’ve made a lot of good friends through Bushmasters trips, and made lots of great memories that will last a lifetime.

I’ve never failed to have an amazing time on the trips I’ve done. The trips are always well planned and every detail thought through, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend going on a trip with Bushmasters. You’ll have an amazing time and return home with stories to wow friends and family with, and photos and memories that you’ll treasure for many years to come. So if you’re thinking about taking part in a trip all I’ll say is, book it, you won’t be disappointed!

Andy’s glowing review truly encompasses what a trip with Bushmasters can offer to you. For more information about our extreme Jungle Survival courses, take a look at our page which wholly showcases the experience.
